Why we love Kiké Hernández

LOS ANGELES – Every week this year La Vida Baseball has published “El Bullpen,” our social media round-up of good, goofy, funny and even occasionally serious moments from the social media baseball landscape.

By the end of the regular season we could have given Dodgers super-utility man Kiké Hernández contributor status on the site because his Twitter game is so strong. Not only does he contribute all over the field for the Dodgers, but he’s a rockstar on social media as well.

Puig’s his friend

Kiké loves the many faces and mannerisms of Yasiel Puig as much as everyone else. On a few occasions this year the Cuban outfielder was the subject of Hernández tweets.

Best Dad Ever

Anyone who has followed the Dodgers over the last couple seasons has seen a unique, special bond formed between Kiké and veteran second baseman Chase Utley. Utley, 39, made his major league debut when Hernández was in sixth grade, making them an odd couple on the surface. But the relationship has blossomed as Utley has become a sincere mentor to Hernández.

But that doesn’t mean the teacher is safe from Hernández’s social humor. From t-shirts to imitation during batting practice, Hernández has made Utley part of his (Twitter) life.

Game recognizes game

No person or thing is safe from Kiké’s Twitter storm. He’s blamed Millennials for Cody Bellinger’s phone habits, been forced to offer Drake a pronunciation guide and begged his lumber for some service.

Here are five more reasons why we love Kiké Hernández on Twitter.
