Dominican power meeting, Puig’s family swing and a name change in the Bay

Plátano Power

If this doesn’t say Plátano Power, we don’t know what does. Two current Hall of Famers, Pedro Martinez and Vladimir Guerrero along with Big Papi and Robinson Canó wined and dined with Robin Bernstein, the United States Ambassador to the Dominican Republic in Florida. Our invite must have gotten lost in the mail? Looks like a good time was had all around.

Fourth Time’s a Charm?

The San Francisco Giants announced a name change to their ballpark. Its new name is Oracle Park. The now-Oracle Park opened in April 2000 and this is its fourth name in the park’s almost 19-year history. The Giants should feel free to change the name of the park, but they better not dare touch the Juan Marichal and Orlando Cepeda statues outside of it!

“Parents that play together, stick together!”

This according to a post written by Yasiel Puig’s girlfriend, and the mother of his two sons, Andrea De La Torre.  De La Torre is seen on Instagram crushing balls just like her more famous partner. With genes like these, we’re certain that Puig and De La Torre’s little sluggers will be dinging homers in the very near future.

That Abuelo Life

If you follow 2005 World Series Championship Manager, Ozzie Guillén on Instagram, you will see lots and lots of pictures of his one and only granddaughter, Adela Margot, daughter of his son, Ozzie Guillen, Jr. Adela has completely stolen his heart, evidenced by the recent tattoo he received of her footprints along with the date of her birth. He said in his post, that the tattoo that’s been on his heart is now on his body. Que cute.

TBT of the Week Goes to…

Mr. Lapara, José Ramírez. The Indians third baseman posted this #tbt on his Instagram from his Winter League playing days in 2012 with Toros del Este. These days, Ramírez is spending his Winters playing Mario Kart, giving out gifts to kids on Three Kings’ Day and building baseball fields in his backyard.

PRO POST OF THE DAY

Piña Power! Los hermanos Gurriel, Yunito, Yuniesky and Yuly posed for pic together to promote their Piña Power t-shirt line. Based on the pics, would you rock one? We would def. throw one on if we could be an honorary Gurriel hermano. They do have the best hair in MLB.

FAN POST OF THE DAY

This young slugger was really feeling the crowd as they cheered him on. One swing + one hit + one bat flip = pure joy. If this kid stays with el beisbol, expect to see his name in lights! The Hips Don’t Lie!

Happy Birthday!

Wilfredo Sánchez, Cuban leagues outfielder (b. 1948)
