Berríos and DRod work out, Vlad Jr predictions and more Manny waiting

Puerto Rican aces workout

José Berríos shared a video of him working out on the beach Friday morning in Puerto Rico. Working out with him was Giants’ pitcher Dereck Rodríguez, son of Hall of Famer, Iván. The duo were bear crawling and pushing cars. And check out that gorgeous view!

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: 2019 ROY?

Sam Dykstra at MiLB.com rounded up forecasts for 2019 AL East rookies, using FanGraphs’ Steamer600 projections. The projections consider Minor League performance, age and past performance to project how rookies would fare in a full season. Who tops that list (and MiLB’s list overall)? None other than Blue Jays top prospect, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., son of the 2018 Hall of Famer. Next on the overall list is White Sox top prospect Eloy Jiménez. Could we see a rookie faceoff in 2019 a la Ronald Acuña-Juan Soto in 2018? Here’s hoping!

Manny Watch

The Manny Machado sweepstakes seem to be heating up by the day. Thursday, it was reported by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale that the Chicago White Sox had made a formal offer to the Dominican American superstar. It’s believed that the deal closer to the $200 million range, as opposed to the $300 million Machado is reportedly seeking. Either way, that buys a whole lotta mangú!

Pro Post of the Day

We’re cheating a little bit today – we’re going with two posts for post of the day! The two newest New York Mets, Wilson Ramos and Jeurys Familia, both shared photos of their familias on Instagram. Ramos’ family rang in the new year in style, while Familia’s post centered on them being his inspiration. Either way, we like it!

Fan Post of the Day

It’s no small task being a catcher. You have to know every hitter on the opposing team and you have to know your pitcher. But even more challenging is the physical aspect of the position. Being agile, strong and quick while crouching for extended periods of time is no small feat. This little pelotero is showing the hard work it takes to become a big league catcher one day!

2010 – Boston Red Sox sign Adrián Beltré to a one-year deal worth $9 million with an option for a second year.

2018 – The Dodgers acquire Joakim Soria from the Royals for prospects Erick Mejía and Trevor Oaks. The Dodgers immediately flip Soria and Luis Avilán to the White Sox for minor league IF Jake Peter.
