Béisbol honors Robinson, Vlad hangs with Alou, Encarnación’s new teammate

Béisstrongol honors Jackie Rostronginson

The baseball world is celebrating the life of Jackie Robinson, who would have turned 100 today. Robinson Canó, who is from the Dominican Republic, honors Robinson by wearing the number 24, the reversal of 42. The pioneer who broke Major League Baseball’s color line is remembered by our Editor-in-Chief Adrian Burgos, Jr., as an “integration pioneer who cleared the path for any Latino, from the lightest to the darkest, to be signed by a major league organization.”

Game recognize game

Vladimir Guerrero was riding his Hall of Fame announcement wave last year at this time. From getting the call informing him of his election to his hero’s welcome in the Dominican Republic, he had no days off. Guerrero’s life looks a little less hectic these days as we see him cheering on his son Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., via social media. He even finds time to visit his first manager, Felipe Alou. Vladi views Alou as a “father.” Game recognize game.

New Team Member AlerT

Edwin Encarnación welcomed a new member to Team Encarnación. He shared this picture on social media with the footprint of his new son on a baseball. Hall of Famers and new babies will make appearances this season in Seattle.

Basestrongall can’t come soon enough

The midwest is suffering from one of the most frigid cold spells to date. The Polar Vortex of 2019 is making us all long for the summer days of baseball when we can sit outside and watch our favorite sport. This meme pretty much sums up #PolarVortex2019 perfectly. Stay warm out there, gente.

Pro Post of the Day

The best #TBT we’ve seen today is of Miguel Cabrera hanging out with a few of our favorite barbers, Juice and Willy from Headz Up Barbershop in Miami. We had to do a double take when spotting young Miggy from 2003, when he was 19 years old. Wow.

Fan Post of the Day

Baseball brings out the brightest smile in this young fanático wearing a vintage Nuevo Leon uniform with a Cubs hat. A young El Mago in the making? We believe so.

Happy Birthday

Jackie Robinson (b. 1919).

Guillermo Heredia, Rays outfielder (b. 1991).
