David Ortiz #34ever: Sharing ‘Big Papi’ memories

David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz is bigger than life. On the field and off. He blasted majestic home runs when they most counted, leading the Boston Red Sox to three World Series championships.

And when Boston trembled after the terrorist attack of April 20, 2013, he stood steadfast, calming fears while reassuring fans and residents with a heartfelt and colorful speech.

Today, Ortiz is truly beloved from the Dominican Republic to Boston and points in between. To honor his legacy, the Red Sox retired his number 34 on June 23. We honor him with stories from friends and former teammates.
