You can officially kick off Vladi Jr.’s Rookie of the Year campaign. Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., was named the American League Player of the Week for the week of May 12-19.

Guerrero set another franchise record as the youngest Blue Jays player ever to do something when he earned the POW award.

2009 – Jeanmar Gomez throws a perfect game, leading the Akron Aeros past the Trenton Thunder 3-0 in Trenton. It is the first minor league perfect game since Guillermo Moscoso in 2007.

2005 – The San Francisco Giants pay homage to “The Dominican Dandy,” Juan Marichal, by dedicating a nine-foot bronze statue outside SBC Park.

1986 – Atlanta’s Rafael Ramírez doubles four times in seven at-bats, leading the Braves to a 9-8 win over the Cubs in 13 innings.
