A’s deals, Cuban prospects meet up and Venezuelan stars train together

Oakland acquires pair of Latinos
Late Thursday night, Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reported that the Oakland A’s had signed veteran Mexican reliever Joakim Soria. Now the A’s are adding another Latino to their lineup. Oakland acquired infielder Jurickson Profar of Curaçao from Texas on Friday morning. Emilio Pagán went from Oakland to Texas in the three-team deal that also involved the Tampa Bay Rays.
Fiesta Cubana
Doral, Fla. was the place to be on Thursday if you wanted to meet a hot-shot Cubano prospect. Miami Marlins prospects and brothers Víctor Mesa Jr. and Víctor Víctor Mesa caught up with White Sox prospect Luis Robert as they trained with Francis Terán who has trained other Latino peloteros in the past. The trio snapped a picture with Terán after a star-studded workout.
Venezuelan stars feel the burn
They say it’s best to rotate workouts to keep your muscles strong and fresh. Well, that’s exactly what Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli did Thursday. Cervelli hooked up with Major League Soccer MVP and fellow Venezuelan Josef Martínez. The duo did some interesting workouts – looks a little bit like interpretive dance to us, but we’re sure it’s harder than it looks.

Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías shared one of his gifts: a pair of custom shoes with drawings of Urías in front of the Green Monster at Fenway, as well as a sketch that commemorated his World Series appearance. What a sweet pair of kicks!
