Players speak out about Venezuela, Edgar faces Mariano and our fan post of the day

All EYES ON VENEZUELA

On Wednesday, Venezuelans took to the streets of Caracas to protest and demand the end of Nicolás Maduro’s reign. Venezuelans are desperately seeking change for their beloved country. Players including Omar Vizquel, José Altuve, Salvador Pérez and Gleyber Torres all posted messages of hope and support for their country.

A HALL OF FAME FACE-OFF

After Wednesday’s Hall of Fame news conference, newly elected HOFers Edgar Martínez and Mariano Rivera faced off for old times sake. Mariano got almost every ball past Edgar. Looks like these two are enjoying their Cooperstown time with Mariano joking “Edgar has to take me to dinner, maybe tomorrow. One of these days. It’s because of me, his average is better. Therefore, you owe me dinner.” Can we get an invite?

JOSÉ REYES SITS COURTSIDE

Free agent José Reyes is using a bit of his off-season time to take in some hoops with James Harden. The former Mets shortstop caught some courtside action as the Rockets beat the Knicks 114-110. Check out their outfits: it looks like both guys just stepped off the runways of Paris Fashion Week!

EL PASO CHIHUAHUAS GOT SWAG

Speaking of fashion, the El Paso Chihuahuas on-field uniforms look so slick, we’re thinking of trying out just to score one. The howling perros with the sombreros and the serape detailing on the sleeves would be the perfect addition to the LVB closet. Looks like a trip to El Paso is in our very near future.

PRO POST OF THE DAY:

Los Hermanos Dominicanos

There are no off-days for workout buddies Ketel Marte and José Ramírez. Who needs a fancy gym anyways when these peloteros have access to a giant tire?

FAN POST OF THE DAY:

ACUÑA MATATA

It means no worries for Ronald Acuña, Jr. for the rest of his baseball playing days? In any case, we’d be proud to rock one these t’s the next time we’re in Atlanta to watch Los Bravos.

Happy Birthday!

José Quintana, Cubs pitcher (b. 1989).

Enny Romero, free agent pitcher (b. 1991).
