El Bullpen: Out-of-position pitchers and welcoming legends

Welcome, Vlad

Getting into a groove
There has been a run on position players pitching recently. Cubs catcher Victor Caratini pitched twice in four days, and Anthony Rizzo appeared to be having more fun than anyone in a blowout loss. But the best warm-up of the week goes to Kiké Hernandez, the Dodgers super-utility player who came in to take the loss in a 16-inning marathon against the Phillies on Tuesday.

The out-of-position epidemic saw pitchers playing the field as well. The Rays were amused as their opener/closer Sergio Romo headed to the hot corner on Wednesday afternoon.

Domingo the Daddy
Yankees pitcher Domingo German took to Instagram to share a gender reveal for his coming child. He was clearly excited to see the color was blue.
MVP!
The Florida Marlins introduced a new chain for their game MVP. It’s named the JDF16 MVP of the Game Chain in honor of the late José Fernández.
