Dream workout in Charlotte
Yoán Moncada was sent to Charlotte on a rehab assignment, and the Knights were honoring José Contreras for a Copa de la Diversión night. The White Sox’s Cuban third baseman worked out with Contreras’ son before the game. How cool is that?

The Hillsboro Hops held a special moment before their game this weekend when Gio Savarese and Javier Colina talked about their journeys from Venezuela before a game.

1990 – In his first major league at-bat leading off the bottom of the first Dodgers shortstop José Offerman hit a home run against Expos starter Dennis Martínez. Offerman hadn’t hit a home run all season in the minors. Martínez and Montreal won 2-1.
1977 – Mike Torrez threw his sixth consecutive complete game to lead the Yankees to an 8-1 victory over Texas.
