2007 – Johan Santana set a Minnesota Twins franchise record by striking out 17 in a two-hit shutout victory against the Texas Rangers.
1990 – In his first major league at-bat leading off the bottom of the first Dodgers shortstop José Offerman hit a home run against Expos starter Dennis Martínez. Offerman hadn’t hit a home run all season in the minors. Martínez and Montreal won 2-1.
1977 – Mike Torrez threw his sixth consecutive complete game to lead the Yankees to an 8-1 victory over Texas.
