Happy Mother’s Day
Major League Baseball showed its appreciation for mothers with pink caps, bats, socks, shoes, and other pieces of equipment or uniforms. However, the real heart of the day came from players on their social media accounts. With that, we dedicate our Monday morning edition of El Bullpen to mothers everywhere. Here are some of our favorite Mother’s Day posts from the weekend.

2009 – Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano hit his 53rd career leadoff homer to begin a rain-shortened 6-4 win over the San Diego Padres. Soriano’s blast ties Craig Biggio for second on the all-time list, still well behind record holder Rickey Henderson at 81.
2002 – Jose Canseco retires at 37, just 38 home runs shy of the exclusive 500-home run club.
2001 – At 25 years and 289 days, Alex Rodriguez becomes the fifth-youngest player in big league history to hit his 200th career home run.
