El Bullpen: Pedro’s birthday, Altuve meets a fighter and Didi’s night out

This year’s World Series heads across the country to Los Angeles, but baseball’s social media landscape continues to talk about more than just the Fall Classic.

Happy birthday, Pedro

On Thursday, Pedro Martínez celebrated his 47th birthday. His friends, former teammates and the National Baseball Hall of Fame were among those that wished him all the best.

Yadi honored

Before Game 2 of the World Series, Yadier Molina was named the recipient of the 2018 Roberto Clemente Award. It was a huge honor for the catcher to win the award named for the greatest Puerto Rican player. Molina’s former teammates know he’s earned the award with his hard work in the wake of Hurricane Maria and in St. Louis.

Altuve and the fighter

His offseason started earlier than he would have preferred but Astros’ second baseman José Altuve spent time with another Venezuelan star, professional boxer Jorge Linares. Linares has held multiple world championships in three weight classes, making this a powerful duo.
