Dodgers fans serenaded Alex Verdugo on Wednesday night as Kenta Maeda struck out 12 and the Dodgers blew out candles and shut out the Padres 2-0.
Puig walks it off
The Reds erased a two-run deficit late against the Cubs and then Yasiel Puig walked it off in the 10th.

More bad news in the Bronx
Unfortunately the season has come to an early end for Yankees third baseman Miguel Andújar. We hope to see him back in 2020.
Miguel Andújar has elected for right shoulder labrum repair surgery. It will be performed on Monday at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital by Dr. Christopher Ahmad. He is not expected to return this season.

Houston, we have a sale
There are two unique OTD moments in Astros history on May 16.
1979 – National League owners approve the sale of the Houston Astros from the Ford Motor Credit Company to John McMullen for a reported $19 million.
2011 – The Astros are sold by owner Drayton McLane to a group of Houston businessmen headed by Jim Crane for a reported $680 million. The sale was ratified by Major League Baseball later.
OTD
2015 – In the first inning against the Cardinals, Miguel Cabrera hits the 400th home run of his career. Cabrera passes both Andres Galarraga, who held the record for most homers by a player from Venezuela, and Detroit Tigers legend Al Kaline, both of whom finished their careers with 399 homers.
2001 – Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa becomes the 33rd major leaguer to reach 400 career home runs.
1996 – Sosa becomes the first Cubs player to hit two home runs in one inning, hitting them in the 7th inning at Wrigley Field.
