Late Wednesday night Ricardo Rosselló resigned his position as governor of Puerto Rico. Current and former players joined the thousands calling for a change in leadership. Yadier Molina, Eddie Rosario, Carlos Beltrán and Álex Cora were among those who celebrated the news.
Parrot streak continues
Edwin Encarnación hit his 30th home run of the season on Wednesday night, a benchmark he has now reached eight straight years.
Edwin Encarnacion has now hit 30 home runs or more in eight consecutive seasons (2012-19).

Apparently Yasiel Puig felt his facial hair was to blame after a poor at bat. The next time he stepped to the plate he was clean shaven.

1999 – Orlando Cepeda is inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame with Nolan Ryan, Robin Yount, George Brett, Nestor Chylak, Frank Selee and ‘Smokey’ Joe Williams.
1996 – Royals rookie José Rosado shut out the Yankees on four hits at Yankee Stadium to win his first major league game, 7-0.
1980 – The Cubs fired manager Preston Gómez, replacing him with Joey Amalfitano.
1956 – Roberto Clemente became the first big league player in the post-Deadball Era to hit a walk-off, inside-the-park grand slam. Clemente hit a shot off the cage surrounding the base of Forbes Field’s left field light tower off Cubs reliever Jim Brosnan.
1937 – Washington’s Mel Almada tied the major-league record by scoring 5 runs in the first game of a doubleheader. He then scored four more times in the second game, setting an 18-inning record that still stands.
