Adrián Beltré’s fourth inning double on Wednesday night in Los Angeles made him the MLB’s all-time hit leader among players born outside the United States, breaking a tie with none other than Ichiro Suzuki.

Phillies reliever Víctor Arano and bullpen coach Jim Gott welcomed a group of youngsters from Mighty Writers to Citizens Bank Park and gave them the experience of a lifetime. Mighty Writers is a non-profit organization that supports Philadelphia kids ages seven to 17 who want to become better writers.

Pitcher Jonathan Loáisiga will make history Friday night when he starts for the New York Yankees in the Bronx. He will be the first Nicaraguan to play for the Yankees and the 15th Nica to ever suit up in the majors.
