Peloteros give back this holiday season
By Andy Martinez

Yep, we’re just as stuffed as you are. We might have a little too much lechón asado and eaten one or two (OK, six) too many tamales. But, we won’t judge. It was fun times!
The La Vida Baseball team weren’t the only ones to have fun this holiday season. Latino peloteros celebrated Christmas, and for the most part, they were the ones handing out the holiday joy.
Take a look at some of our favorite moments from peloteros’ Christmas. P.S., you might need some tissues.
Vlad gives back
We start off with a member of the 2018 Class of Hall of Fame, Vladimir Guerrero. Vlad was back in his native Dominican Republic and he showed his heart is bigger than his bat. Guerrero gave food ahead of the holidays and we can bet he made many people’s holidays that much better.
Hoy estuvimos entregando alimentos a las personas de mi comunidad y verdaderamente sigo creyendo que hay más felicidad en dar que en recibir. | Today we were delivering food to the people of my community and i still truly believe that is better to give than to receive. pic.twitter.com/JtSSw8HIqA

Correa surprises #1 Fan
Puerto Rican Carlos Correa also gave back. On Wednesday on his Instagram, Correa shared pictures and a video of him surprising his number one fan, Emmanuel in Puerto Rico. Correa switched roles and pitched to Emmanuel, who hit a moonshot! OK, who started cutting the onions?
Carlos Martínez plays Santa
Continuing in the spirit of giving, Cardinals pitcher, Carlos Martínez, Tsunami, gave back to children of his native Dominican Republic. Martínez shared a photo of boxes waiting to be opened by children on Christmas. Martínez can pitch, and he can play the role of Santa Claus pretty well, too.
Luis Urías surprises his papá
One of San Diego’s hottest prospects is Mexican infielder Luis Urías. The 21-year-old Urías made it up to the Big Leagues this season, but his time was cut short after 12 games, when he picked up an injury that caused him to miss the rest of the season. Still, Urías showed his heart on Christmas. Urías, flipped roles this year and was Santa for his papá. Urías gifted him a new pickup truck and admitted how special that was and how it was hard for him to hold back the tears. Don’t worry, Luis, it was tough to hold them back for us watching, too.
El Maguito’s first navidad
Javy Báez had a year to remember. El Mago had his first son, Adrián Javier and, oh yeah, he had a pretty decent béisbol season, finishing second in the National League MVP voting. This year was the first Christmas for Adrián, and Javy and his wife, Irmarie, shared photos of their celebrations and an Instagram story of the day. Adrián received a pretty cool bag from Javy’s teammate Jason Hayward, too.
J.D. Martínez gifts special sox
We know some of you out there received the dreaded socks this holiday season. You aren’t alone. J.D. Martínez gave his family a pair of socks this Christmas, but he added a spin, they had his face on them. OK, these are some socks we might want to own!
