Manny’s offseason: Calm before the (Media) storm
Phillies, White Sox and Yankees fans are nervously awaiting to see where prized free agent Manny Machado lands (OK, we are, too). Machado, though, doesn’t seem to be sweating his decision. The Dominican American infielder shared a picture of him, brother-in-law (and newest White Sox) first baseman Yonder Alonso and some friends golfing on Friday. Hopefully his next post reveals more of his plans for next season …
Rubio reacts to MLB/CBF agreement
Earlier this month, Major League Baseball and the Cuban Baseball Federation reached an historic agreement that would allow Cuban players to join MLB without having to defect. Cubanos past and present were overjoyed with the news. But not everyone is in favor of the agreement. Florida Senator Marco Rubio (who is of Cuban descent himself), shared his displeasure with the deal, calling it “illegal and immoral” and has asked President Donald Trump to veto the agreement.
Sánchez signs with Nationals
Aníbal Sánchez signed a two-year, $19 million deal with the Washington Nationals which included a club option for 2021. Sánchez had a resurgence last season with Atlanta, striking out 135, and pitching to a 2.83 ERA, his lowest since 2013, when he finished fourth in Cy Young voting. We know who’s buying the next arepa lunch in Washington!
