2018 La Vida Awards: Best Dressed

Back in the 1960s, Felipe Alou talked shoes with Willie McCovey. In the late ’60s early ’70s, it was Roberto Clemente’s well-tailored look that caught everyone’s eye. In the 1980s…things seemed to go downhill fashion-wise.

But today many players have their own shoe or clothing lines. And many others are regularly posting their best dressed moments—in and out of season—on Instagram.

When Javy Báez put on one of Clemente’s old sport coats at the Home Run Derby this summer, it brought the fashion of legends into the now. The red carpet at the All-Star Game is now on par with the style of the Academy Awards.

As we look back at the 2018 season, here are the three gentlemen we feel are the most distinguished dressers in the league.

Honorable Mention:
Ozzie Albies

Albies is the youngest of our three finalists. He’s been crushing the tailored suit game since he was in the minors, and has continued to lead a fashion-forward lineup filled with young stars.

Honorable Mention:
Francisco Lindor

Lindor has been one of the best dressed players in the game since he arrived in Cleveland. He blew up the red carpet at the 2018 MLB All-Star Game in Washington, D.C. with his red Supreme backpack and perfectly cut hat. He also designs his own line of shoes for New Balance and is frequently posting his best look on Instagram.

Winner:
Carlos Correa

Correa is flashy on and off the field. From custom Adidas shoes to some of the best looking suits in the league, he boasts what may be the deepest collection of murses in the game. He even makes even a hoodie and jeans look good.
